The titanium cartilage hoop is a hinged clicker ring with a small cubic-zirconia charm that dangles from its base — a helix hoop that catches the light every time you move. Worn in the helix, it looks just as good in a conch, tragus, daith or rook, in implant-grade titanium that stays kind to healing cartilage.
It is machined from ASTM F136 titanium (grade 23) — nickel-free and cobalt-free, light and corrosion-resistant. The material piercers recommend for a fresh piercing and for sensitive skin, polished to a quiet silver shine. Prefer gold? The same hoop comes in a gold PVD finish.
The hinge is what makes it easy: one side swings open, slides through the piercing and snaps locked, so there's no captive bead to lose and no bending a seamless ring open and closed. Once shut it reads as one clean circle, with the charm swinging softly below.
Choose your charm
Three faceted cubic-zirconia charms hang from the hoop, each cut to sparkle: a kite (an elongated, pointed drop), a heart, and a pear teardrop. The kite and heart come in two sizes, the pear in one — pick the shape that feels like you.
Simple or crystal ring
Then choose the ring to match: Simple is a clean, polished band, while Crystal sets a row of cubic-zirconia along the front of the hoop for extra sparkle. Same charm, two moods.
Where to wear your cartilage hoop
One hoop, many piercings: the same ring suits a helix, forward helix, conch, tragus, daith, rook or lobe. Match the inner diameter to the spot — smaller for a tight helix, a touch larger for a conch or lobe — and keep the gauge your piercer used. For a pavé band instead of a dangling charm, see the pavé seamless ring.
Choosing your size
Each option shows the charm size in millimetres (height × width) — for example a 6 × 3 mm kite or a 4 × 4 mm heart. The hoop itself is a standard cartilage clicker; if you're matching an existing piercing, our gauge and size guide explains how to measure.
Frequently asked questions about the cartilage hoop
-
Is it safe on a fresh piercing? Yes — implant-grade ASTM F136 titanium is nickel-free and biocompatible, the recommended choice for new or sensitive cartilage.
-
How does the hinge work? One side swings open on a tiny hinge; you pass it through the piercing, then press it shut until it clicks locked. No tools, no separate bead.
-
Will the charm fall off? No — the charm hangs from a soldered jump ring at the base of the hoop and moves freely without coming loose.
