Gold Piercing Jewellery

Warm gold-finish titanium — a PVD gold layer over nickel-free G23, for a healed piercing.

Gold piercing jewellery with an honest finish. Every gold piece here is a PVD gold finish bonded over implant-grade G23 titanium — the warm, timeless tone of gold over a nickel-free core, without the price of solid gold and without the cheap plated brass that wears and can expose nickel. We never call it solid gold; we'd rather tell you exactly what it is. More in our guide to choosing a material.

Studs, nose studs, segment rings, barbells and hoops — gold piercings for every placement — the ear, nose or septum — best worn on a settled or healed piercing. Healing a fresh one? Start in titanium, then switch to the gold finish once it's calm.

Gold-finish jewellery, honestly explained

Our gold pieces are not solid gold — and we would rather tell you that up front. They are a PVD gold finish bonded over an implant-grade G23 titanium base. PVD (physical vapour deposition) fuses a hard, even layer of gold colour to the titanium, so you get the warm tone of gold with the strength and the nickel-free, hypoallergenic properties of titanium underneath.

Why gold over titanium beats cheap plating

Ordinary gold plating sits on a brass or steel base that can contain nickel, and it wears off quickly. A PVD finish over G23 titanium is far more durable and, crucially, the metal touching your skin is still nickel-free titanium even where the finish shows wear. It is the sensible way to wear gold on a piercing without risking the irritation that plating over base metal can cause.

Gold for a healed piercing

Gold is the finishing touch, not the healing metal. Heal a new piercing in plain titanium first, then switch to a gold finish once it is fully settled for a warmer, more polished look. It suits every placement — a stacked helix, a conch, a nostril, a septum or a navel.

Looking after a gold finish

A PVD gold finish is hard-wearing but not indestructible. Keep it away from abrasive cleaners, take it off before heavy friction, and wipe it with a soft cloth. Treated gently, the colour stays true for a long time. More on choosing between metals in which material for your piercing.

Is your gold jewellery solid gold?
No. It is a PVD gold finish over an implant-grade G23 titanium base. You get the warm gold colour with the nickel-free, hypoallergenic properties of titanium — we don't sell it as solid gold.
Can I wear a gold-finish piece in a fresh piercing?
It is better to heal in plain titanium first and switch to gold once the piercing is fully healed. The base is nickel-free titanium, but a healing piercing does best with the simplest, smoothest jewellery.
Will the gold finish wear off?
A PVD finish is much more durable than ordinary plating, but it is not permanent. Avoid abrasives and heavy friction and wipe it with a soft cloth, and the colour stays true for a long time. Even if it wears, the metal against your skin is still nickel-free titanium.
