Description

The titanium septum clicker is the piece people picture when they think of a septum: a hinged ring that sits under the nose and clicks shut into a clean circle. This one is a double hoop — two slim parallel bands instead of one — in implant-grade titanium that is safe against the skin, worn in the septum and just as happy in a daith, helix or nostril.

It is machined from ASTM F136 titanium (grade 23) — nickel-free and cobalt-free, light and corrosion-resistant. The material piercers recommend for a fresh piercing and for sensitive skin, with a polished finish that keeps its shine. Prefer gold? See the gold septum clicker.

The double hoop is what sets it apart: two parallel bands give more presence than a single ring while staying slim and comfortable. The hinge means no bending metal and no dropped bead — it swings open, slides through and snaps locked.

Septum clicker, horseshoe or captive bead: which to choose

Prefer an open U-shape you can flip up? Compare it with the septum horseshoe, or our guide to types of jewellery.

Criteria Hinged clicker Horseshoe (circular barbell) Captive bead ring
Closure Hinged, clicks shut Two balls/cones unscrew Tension-held bead
Insertion Very easy, reusable Easy, but balls can drop Fiddly
Security High — snaps locked Medium, balls loosen Medium
Look Clean double hoop, flips up to hide Classic U-shape, flippable Single ring with a bead

Choosing your gauge and size

This clicker is 16G (1.2 mm) with an 8 mm inner diameter — the standard septum fit. A daith or helix may take a slightly larger diameter. Always match the gauge your piercer set; forcing a thicker ring hurts the piercing. Unsure? Our gauge and size guide explains it simply.

Frequently asked questions about the titanium septum clicker

  • Is it safe on a fresh piercing? Yes — implant-grade ASTM F136 titanium is nickel-free and biocompatible, the recommended choice for a new or sensitive piercing.
  • How does the hinge work? One side swings open, you pass it through the piercing, then press it shut until it clicks locked. No tools, no separate parts.
  • Can I wear it elsewhere? Yes — the same ring suits a daith, helix or nostril. Just pick the diameter that matches.

Safe metal for a piercing you'll wear closed up.

A septum sits in soft tissue and reacts fast to cheap metal. This clicker is implant-grade ASTM F136 titanium (G23): nickel-free, cobalt-free and hypoallergenic — the material piercers trust — while the hinge lets you open and close it cleanly.

Putting in your flat back

Three moves and it's in. The top screws on at the front — the flat disc stays put behind.

1

Disc behind

Place the flat disc behind the piercing, flat against the skin.

2

Post through

Guide the post through the hole, to the front.

3

Screw the top

Screw the top onto the post from the front (internal thread). Snug, not forced.

Once in, it doesn't spin or snag — you can sleep in it. On a fresh piercing, have your piercer fit it.

Is a titanium septum clicker good for a fresh piercing?
Yes. Implant-grade ASTM F136 titanium is nickel-free and biocompatible, a safe choice for a new or sensitive septum. Have the initial jewellery fitted by your piercer.
Can I flip it up to hide it?
Yes. Like most septum rings, you can rotate it up inside the nostrils so it's hidden — handy for work or family. The hinge makes taking it in and out easy.
What gauge and size is it?
16G (1.2 mm) with an 8 mm diameter is the standard septum fit. Match the gauge your piercer used; a daith or helix may take a slightly larger diameter.
