Description

The gold nose ring brings warmth to the everyday hoop: a hinged segment ring that clicks shut into a smooth, seamless circle, finished in a rich gold tone over an implant-grade titanium core. A classic gold nose hoop for the nostril that works just as well in a septum, daith or helix — in a plain band or a crystal-pavé finish. Prefer a silver tone? See the titanium nose ring.

An honest gold finish

This is a PVD gold finish over G23 titanium: you get the warm colour and the nickel-free titanium underneath, without the price of solid gold — and without the cheap plated brass that wears and can expose nickel. We never call it solid gold. More in our guide to choosing a material, or browse all gold pieces.

Why a hinged segment ring

The hinge is what sets it apart from an old-style seamless ring: no bending the metal open and closed, no dropped captive bead. One side swings open, slides through the piercing and snaps locked — easy to put in yourself, and secure once shut. Closed, the join is nearly invisible, so the ring reads as one clean gold circle against the skin.

Hinged segment ring, seamless or captive bead: which to choose

Criteria Hinged segment ring Seamless ring Captive bead ring
Closure Hinged, clicks shut Bent open and closed Tension-held bead
Insertion Very easy, reusable Fiddly, metal fatigues Fiddly, bead can drop
Security High — snaps locked Medium Medium
Look Smooth, seamless once shut Seamless Visible bead accent

Choosing your gauge and diameter

This ring comes in two gauges — 18G (1.0 mm) and 16G (1.2 mm) — and four inner diameters: 6, 8, 10 and 12 mm. For a nostril, 18G with a 6–8 mm diameter is the usual fit; a septum, daith or helix often takes 16G and 8–10 mm. Always match the gauge your piercer set. Unsure? Our gauge and size guide explains it simply.

Frequently asked questions about the gold nose ring

  • Is it solid gold? No — it's a PVD gold finish over nickel-free G23 titanium. You get the warm colour and a hypoallergenic core, without plated brass that wears off.
  • How does the hinge work? One side swings open on a tiny hinge, you pass it through the piercing, then press it shut until it clicks locked. No tools, no separate parts.
  • Can I wear it on a fresh piercing? It's best on a settled or healed piercing. For a brand-new one, start in plain titanium, then switch to gold once it's calm.

Warm gold tone, honest titanium core.

You get a warm gold hoop without the trade-off: a PVD gold finish over implant-grade ASTM F136 titanium (G23), nickel-free underneath — never the cheap plated brass that wears and can expose nickel. The hinge lets you open and close it cleanly, and once shut the gold circle reads seamless against the skin.

Putting in your flat back

Three moves and it's in. The top screws on at the front — the flat disc stays put behind.

1

Disc behind

Place the flat disc behind the piercing, flat against the skin.

2

Post through

Guide the post through the hole, to the front.

3

Screw the top

Screw the top onto the post from the front (internal thread). Snug, not forced.

Once in, it doesn't spin or snag — you can sleep in it. On a fresh piercing, have your piercer fit it.

How does a hinged segment ring open?
One side swings open on a small hinge. You pass the open end through the piercing, then press it closed until it clicks locked — no tools and no separate bead to drop.
Can I wear it on a fresh piercing?
It's best on a settled or healed piercing. Heal a new one in plain titanium first, then switch to the gold finish once it's calm.
