Description

The titanium industrial barbell is a long 14G straight bar that links two cartilage piercings across the top of the ear — the industrial (or scaffold) look, in one clean line. A ball screws onto each end, in implant-grade titanium that stays kind to healing cartilage.

It is machined from ASTM F136 titanium (grade 23) — nickel-free and cobalt-free, light and corrosion-resistant. The material piercers recommend for a fresh piercing and for sensitive skin, polished to a quiet silver shine. Prefer gold? See the gold industrial barbell.

Both balls screw off the bar, so you can clean the piece or swap an end without tools. The long bar is a single, rigid span — pick the length that matches the distance between your two piercings. To fill out the rest of the helix, pair it with a cartilage hoop.

Choosing your length

An industrial sits across two helix piercings, so length is everything. The common sizes are 32, 35 and 38 mm — 35 mm (about 1⅜″) and 38 mm (1½″) fit most ears, with 32 mm for a closer-set pair. Measure the span your piercer set, or ask them. This bar is 14G (1.6 mm), the standard industrial gauge. Our gauge and size guide explains it simply.

Frequently asked questions about the industrial barbell

  • How do I pick the length? It has to match the distance between your two piercings — 35–38 mm suits most ears. If you're between sizes, ask your piercer to measure.
  • Is titanium safe for a fresh industrial? Yes — implant-grade ASTM F136 titanium is nickel-free and biocompatible, the recommended choice for a new or sensitive piercing. An industrial heals slowly, so the metal matters.
  • Can I swap just the balls? Yes — each ball unscrews from the bar, so you can change an end without replacing the whole barbell.

One long bar, two piercings — in metal your ear can trust.

An industrial links two cartilage piercings, so it heals slowly and the metal matters twice over. This bar is implant-grade ASTM F136 titanium (G23): nickel-free, cobalt-free and hypoallergenic — the material piercers trust. The balls screw off for easy cleaning, and the long rigid span holds the line clean across the ear.

Putting in your flat back

Three moves and it's in. The top screws on at the front — the flat disc stays put behind.

1

Disc behind

Place the flat disc behind the piercing, flat against the skin.

2

Post through

Guide the post through the hole, to the front.

3

Screw the top

Screw the top onto the post from the front (internal thread). Snug, not forced.

Once in, it doesn't spin or snag — you can sleep in it. On a fresh piercing, have your piercer fit it.

How do I choose the industrial length?
It must match the distance between your two piercings. 35–38 mm suits most ears; 32 mm fits a closer-set pair. If you're unsure, ask your piercer to measure the span.
Is titanium safe for a fresh industrial?
Yes. Implant-grade ASTM F136 titanium is nickel-free and biocompatible, the material piercers recommend for a new or sensitive piercing — and an industrial heals slowly, so the metal matters.
Can I change just the balls?
Yes — each ball unscrews from the bar by hand, so you can swap an end without buying a whole new barbell.
