Description

The titanium crystal tongue barbell is a straight tongue ring with a clear cubic zirconia set in a round 5 mm ball at both ends, so it sparkles whichever way it turns. Made for a healed tongue piercing, it swaps the plain ball for a flash of light every time you talk or smile.

It is machined from implant-grade ASTM F136 titanium (G23), nickel-free and light — a calm, reliable metal for a piercing that lives in the warm, moving environment of the mouth. The polished silver tone stays discreet next to the crystals. Prefer a warmer shine? See the gold crystal tongue barbell.

Each stone sits in a smooth bezel setting: a rim of metal wraps around the crystal, with no prongs to rub against your teeth or palate. The bar is internally threaded, so the thread stays inside the ball and the shaft that passes through the piercing is smooth. Want something plainer for every day? See our titanium tongue barbell with polished balls.

Why bezel-set stones suit tongue piercing jewelry

Your tongue moves all the time, so anything sharp is noticed fast. A bezel setting keeps the crystal held inside a rounded ball, which is why it is the setting of choice for tongue jewellery: the sparkle of a crystal tongue ring with the smooth feel of a plain ball.

Choosing your bar length

The bar is 14G (1.6 mm) thick and comes in two lengths: 16 mm, the standard for a healed tongue, and 14 mm for a snugger fit. A fresh tongue piercing starts on a longer bar to allow for swelling, fitted by your piercer. Not sure which to pick? Our gauge and size guide explains it simply.

Frequently asked questions about the titanium crystal tongue barbell

  • Can I wear it in a new tongue piercing? Not straight away: a fresh tongue piercing swells and needs a longer bar fitted by your piercer. Once it has healed and been downsized, 16 mm or 14 mm is the usual choice.
  • Will the stones rub my teeth? Bezel-set stones are smooth all round, with no prongs. As with any tongue barbell, avoid biting or clicking it against your teeth.
  • How do I unscrew the balls? Hold the bar, turn the top ball to the left to loosen and to the right to tighten. Check it is snug regularly, always with clean hands.

Sparkle on your tongue, nothing sharp.

The mouth is warm and always moving, so the metal comes first: implant-grade ASTM F136 titanium (G23), nickel-free and hypoallergenic. Both crystals are bezel-set, with no prongs against your teeth, and the internal thread keeps the bar smooth through the piercing.

Putting in your barbell

One end stays on the bar, the other comes off: that's the one you remove and refit.

1

Remove one end

Unscrew the ball or top (or pull it straight off if it's a push-pin end).

2

Bar through

Slide the bar through the piercing, following its angle, without forcing.

3

Refit the end

Screw or press the end back on until it is snug. Check it now and then, as ends can loosen.

Do it over a towel or a closed sink so the end can't get lost. On a fresh piercing, have your piercer fit it.

Which length should I choose?
16 mm is the standard length for a healed tongue. Choose 14 mm if your piercer has confirmed you can go snugger.
Are the stones real gemstones?
They are cubic zirconia (CZ), a clear, bright crystal — not a diamond. Each one is bezel-set into a 5 mm ball.
What does internally threaded mean?
The thread is cut inside the ball, not on the bar. The part that passes through the piercing stays smooth, which is gentler on the tissue.
Can I wear it as a nipple barbell?
Yes, once a nipple piercing has healed and takes a 14G bar of that length. This page is designed first for the tongue.
